The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, along with the California Highway Patrol Insurance Fraud Task Force, have served a Santa Clara body shop owner with an arrest warrant for one felony count of insurance fraud.

According to BodyShop Business, the investigation involved a vehicle that had to be re-inspected after being repaired by Dong Suk Choi’s repair shop, Choice Auto Body. The re-inspection was conducted by the Farmers Insurance Major Operations Unit in cooperation with an investigator from the California Highway Patrol Insurance Fraud Task Force, Golden Gate Division ISU.

The investigators found that Choi had not completed the repairs according to the agreed upon estimates, including the repair of items that were written to be replaced in the insurance estimates.

Sean Zavala, director of special investigations, said, “This case is another example of Farmers’ commitment to fighting insurance fraud. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement on these types of cases. It is our commitment to our policyholders to take fraud out of their premium dollars.”
