Crooked Chiro Set “Straight” By Judge
3, Insurance Fraud — By Trace America on February 24, 2011 at 11:29 AMAttorney General Jim Hood announced the sentencing of a local Columbia, Mississippi chiropractor yesterday.
According to WCBI.com, Dr. James Donovan of Donovan Chiropractic Clinic in Columbus was sentenced to serve two years of house arrest after he was arrested in May of last year for making false or fraudulent claims on four patients between January of 2007 and March of 2008.
“[Donovan] appeared before Judge Jim Kitchens in Lowndes County Circuit Court yesterday. Kitchens sentenced Donovan under a plea
agreement to three years, one suspended, two to serve on house arrest.”
Donovan, 63, was also ordered to pay $500 to the victim compensation fund and $3, 555.55 in restitution to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi. Although he may have escaped jail time, two years of house arrest should give this crooked chiro some time to “straighten out.”
The Assistant Attorney General Stan Alexander and Special Assistant Attorney General Marvin Sanders of the Public Integrity Division of the Attorney General’s Office prosecuted this case.
