After deliberating for nearly 12 hours, a federal jury convicted David Samuels, Charles Moss and Jermaine Surtain for their roles in several insurance fraud schemes including one murder-plot carried out on a man for his insurance benefits according to The New Orleans Net.

“The Samuels siblings and others garnered tens of thousands of dollars in a pair of arsons and a 2004 murder, prosecutors said. The murder victim, Treyor August, was a cousin of Maria and David Samuels.”

Earlier this month, The Fraud Report reported that David Samuels’s sister, Maria Samuels, had pleaded guilty and was cooperating with the prosecution.  Handled in US District Court Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon’s courtroom, Assistant US Attorney, Bill McSherry, tried to lead jurors through the maze of conspiracy with shocking testimonies from family members, ex lovers and other accomplices that provided details of adultery, drugs and family rivalries associated with this shocking case.

David Samuels was found guilty on 15 counts and is facing 260 years in prison while his codefendants received lesser convictions for their roles; Charles Moss was convicted on two counts and faces 35 years in prison, while Jermaine Surtain, who is currently serving 15 years in prison for a separate conviction, may be adding another 15 years to his sentence.
