A dangerous duo from Fargo, North Dakota was sentenced to 30 days behind bars for 37 staged accidents in the Fargo-metro area.

Last July, The Fraud Report originally reported that Joe Pittman, an investigator from the North Dakota Insurance Department, busted a father-son duo for staging nearly three dozen car accidents in the Fargo metro area. It is now confirmed the scandalous pair are actually brothers and are responsible for a total of 37 staged accidents that mainly targeted women and elderly drivers by speeding into a turn lane and immediately braking.

According to The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, brothers Sead and Senad Mustafic were sentenced to 30 days behind bars on a racketeering conviction after presenting an “Alford” plea to a charge of illegal control of an enterprise.

“On Tuesday in Cass County District Court, Sead Mustafic, 44, and Senad Mustafic, 25, gave Alford pleas to a charge of illegal control of an enterprise, a Class B felony. All other charges the brothers faced, felony theft among them, were dismissed.”

When an “Alford” plea is presented, it means the defendants are agreeing there is enough evidence to convict, but there is no admission of guilt.

The two Bosnian immigrants were both originally charged with felony and misdemeanor insurance fraud and faced 360 days of jail time followed by one and a half years of supervised probation.  Both are also currently facing deportation after their release.
