“Glass For Cash” Ends With Jail Time

Former fugitive, Mary Evano, was sentenced to jail time for her role in a bizarre seven-year scheme that bilked insurance companies out of more than $200,000 after Evano and her husband purposefully ingested glass at local restaurants and hotels and filed claims.

According to Mail Online, 49-year-old Evano received four years behind bars after she confessed to the scheme that also left more than $100,000 in unpaid medical bills.

“After confessing to the deceptions, she was jailed in Boston and ordered to pay more than $340,000 in restitution.”

In October, The Fraud Report learned that Evano, who had multiple aliases, had finally been captured, pleaded guilty and was facing 143 years in prison.  Evano’s husband, Ronald, was captured in 2007 and pled guilty for his part in the scheme.  He is currently serving his 63 month sentence behind bars.

The unusual “Bonnie and Clyde” stunt targeted several establishments in DC, Massachusetts, Maryland and Virginia before authorities caught on.  Perhaps her 4 year prison sentence will help her gain a better understanding of what it means to eat a balanced diet.
