And the Award for Best Actress Goes to…

Scandalous Schemes — By Trace America on August 24, 2010 at 4:17 PM

Two Brevard County women won’t be receiving any awards for their latest performance while trying to scam insurance companies.

According to local news station WFTV, 72-year old Johnella Howard and her caregiver, Susan Snow, have been charged with insurance fraud for staging a slip and fall at the local Publix in Merritt Island, FL. While it is unlikely that their performance will amount to any future appearances on the red carpet, their less than dazzling act could earn them both some jail time.

“In the video, Howard moves her foot back and forth on the ground where there appears to be a spill of some kind, and then she gets on her hands and knees. She gets in a sitting position and then fixes her hair before she lies down. While she is doing that, her caregiver, Snow, watches her and then pushes the shopping cart down the aisle and searches for help. Once rescue crews get to the Merritt Island Publix, they take Howard away.”

“Records show that, two weeks later, the women faxed a later to Publix demanding $300,000 in cash due to injuries. Also, one of the women hand-delivered photos to the store.”

The video footage from Publix’s surveillance provided to WFTV clearly shows why Howard won’t be getting any nominations from the academy for a break through performance and Snow won’t likely be getting the nod for best supporting actoress either. However, they can both expect to face felony charges for their efforts and face the bright lights of the courtroom. Considering the scandalous plot was for over $100,000, both individuals are facing first degree charges for grand theft and could receive 35 years behind bars if convicted.
