Fugitive’s Widow Escapes Jail Time

Insurance Fraud — By Trace America on July 27, 2010 at 4:32 PM

Denise McGinnis, the widow of notorious Westmoreland County fugitive, David McGinnis (pictured), will not serve any jail time for her participation in the alleged insurance fraud scheme that ultimately triggered her then hubby’s wild rampage of retaliation.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, under the terms of a deal made on Monday, Denise McGinnis will enter the Accelerated Rehabilitated Disposition program. Denise, 39, had been charged in connection with the scheme.

“Her attorney, James Ecker of Pittsburgh, said his client will enter the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program and will not admit guilt but may have her charges expunged upon successful completion of a probationary period.”

David McGinnis had been on the run for almost three months after his involvement in an insurance fraud plot was uncovered. According to police, McGinnis claimed his red “monster show truck” was stolen from a local mall in May 2008 and collected over $25,000.  Police stated that the truck was not stolen; it was being hidden at McGinnis’s sister, Wendy McGinnis’, garage in Homer City.

Wendy McGinnis also faces pending charges along with another relative, Kenneth C. McGinnis, 36 of Bolivar who waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The now deceased, David McGinnis, was considered to be armed, and dangerous and on a rampage against those who turned him in before his capture in early June of this year. Shortly after his capture he committed suicide rather than face the music.
