Some People Never Learn
Scandalous Schemes — By Trace America on May 13, 2010 at 1:56 PMA 28 year-old Reno man is receiving jail time for his second attempt to scam insurance companies with a staged auto crash scheme. Mohammad Alshehry was sentenced last week to two years in prison for his connection to a staged car crash scheme that occurred in May 2008 in Los Angeles.
According to the Reno Gazette Journal, Alshehry, who also goes by “Nico,” “Shorty,” and “Cappone,” this L.A. scheme took place a few months before he was convicted and sentenced for similar charges in Reno stemming from a [2006] staged accident.
“In October 2008 Alshery was sentenced to five years probation in Washoe County and ordered to pay $23,000 in restitution after he pleaded guilty to staging a Reno crash involving a 1999 Mercedes Benz he could no longer afford. He paid his friend $500 and some marijuana to drive a rental truck into the car while his mother was inside.”
After pleading guilty to five counts of insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, Alshehry received a two year prison sentence for his latest deceit. Maybe two years will be enough time for “Shorty” to finally learn his lesson and start behaving in a way that would make his mother proud.
