Dead Men Tell No Tales
Scandalous Schemes — By Trace America on May 27, 2010 at 2:02 PMAn Orlando couple was arrested on Sunday for an alleged scandal involving a fake identity in a reported death. According the United Press International, Laura Freed, 43, and Michael Petro, 40, are facing charges after taking out a life insurance policy on a Racko Petro 12 years ago and allegedly cashing in on the policy from the death of someone else.
“Investigators say Freed and Petro took out an insurance policy on the life of Racko Petro in 1998. In 2005, Billy Urich, 59, was admitted to Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center as the 34-year-old Racko and died there of kidney failure.”
“His doctors were puzzled because he appeared to be much older than 34, investigators say. But he was buried as Racko Petro in April.”
Investigators have not announced what the real relationship was between Freed, Petro and Ulrich, but supposedly, Freed posed as his widow when she collected the $500,000 from Security Mutual Life Insurance Co.
Freed and Petro were later released on $125,000 bail. There is no indication as to whether police suspect Racko Petro was involved.
