Farmers SIU Gets the Assist
Rings & Mills — By Trace America on April 27, 2010 at 11:51 AMAccording to Hillsborough County authorities, Farmers SIU worked closely with the Hillsborough County Sheriff and helped bring down a major insurance fraud ring dubbed “Operation Crash For Cash.” The ring allegedly defrauded 18 million dollars from various carriers including Farmers before the authorities became suspicious of the number of accidents being reported on an isolated road near Tampa, Florida.
Farmers applauds the efforts of the Hillsborough County Sheriffs office, the Florida Department of Financial Services and NICB for their ongoing efforts in the fight against insurance fraud,” stated Doug Ashbridge, Director of Special Investigations for Farmers Insurance.
“Farmers is committed to fighting fraud, no matter where it occurs and no matter what form it takes. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement on these and other matters around the country, working to deter anyone from attempting to defraud Farmers and its policyholders,” Ashbridge continued.
It’s nice to see Director of Special Investigations for Farmers Insurance, Doug Ashbridge, taking an aggressive stance to help deter insurance fraud. Without professionals like the people in the Farmers SIU working to combat insurance fraud, rings like this would continue to operate unfettered resulting in higher premiums for everyone in the insurance pool. Chalk one up for Mr. Ashbridge and the rest of SIU at Farmers Insurance. The entire press release can be read here.
